Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Zensense Helix Diffuser
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Zensense Helix Diffuser

Construction Zensense Helix Diffuser
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Zensense Helix Diffuser
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models feel quite right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Zensense Helix Diffuser
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Zensense Helix Diffuser
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
