Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Zempire Helix
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Zempire Helix

Construction Zempire Helix
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Zempire Helix
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem quite right, you could always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Zempire Helix
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Zempire Helix
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
