Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Construction Who Makes The Helix Mattress

All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.

Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Couples with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of these models sound quite right, you can always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Who Makes The Helix Mattress

Helix Warranty

Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
