Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Where To Buy A Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Where To Buy A Helix Mattress

Construction Where To Buy A Helix Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique variants (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Where To Buy A Helix Mattress
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models sound right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Where To Buy A Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Where To Buy A Helix Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
