Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Where Is Helix Made

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Where Is Helix Made

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Where Is Helix Made

Construction Where Is Helix Made

All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Where Is Helix Made

Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.

Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Where Is Helix Made

Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Where Is Helix Made

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
