Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Construction Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.

Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of these options sound quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Where Are Helix Mattresses Manufactured

Helix Warranty

Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
