Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Construction The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those options seem right, you could always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. The Helix Bed Frame With Headboard

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
