Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Sleep On Helix Piercing

Construction Sleep On Helix Piercing

All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Sleep On Helix Piercing

Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Sleep On Helix Piercing

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
