Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Serta Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Serta Helix Mattress

Construction Serta Helix Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Serta Helix Mattress
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Serta Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Serta Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
