Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Reviews Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each respective option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Reviews Helix Mattress

Construction Reviews Helix Mattress
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Reviews Helix Mattress
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models sound quite right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Reviews Helix Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Reviews Helix Mattress
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
