Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Reviews For Helix Sleep
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Reviews For Helix Sleep

Construction Reviews For Helix Sleep
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Reviews For Helix Sleep
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Reviews For Helix Sleep
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Reviews For Helix Sleep
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
