Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Natuzzi Helix
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Natuzzi Helix

Construction Natuzzi Helix
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Natuzzi Helix
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel right, you can always have a look at the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Natuzzi Helix
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Natuzzi Helix
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
