Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Moving Bed Filter Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Moving Bed Filter Helix

Construction Moving Bed Filter Helix
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Moving Bed Filter Helix
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem right, you may always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Moving Bed Filter Helix
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
