Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. How To Return Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. How To Return Helix Mattress

Construction How To Return Helix Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). How To Return Helix Mattress
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you may always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. How To Return Helix Mattress
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. How To Return Helix Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
