Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Yelp
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Yelp

Construction Helix Yelp
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Yelp
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options sound quite right, you can always check out the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Yelp
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Yelp
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Yelp
If you are searching for a mattress and aren’t quite sure what feel that you need, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system might be the key to finding your very best sleep with little hassle. Their awesome system, which relies on expert sentiment and AI, was designed to better their customer’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Yelp
The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to deliver options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you wanted one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should provide good edge support and motion transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped construction.
Hopefully, I’ve provided you some idea of what the typical customer can expect from the Helix, but it does provide a sensational assortment of customization with an option for literally every specific need or desire. Your next best sleep could just be a brief online quiz away.
