Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Vs Purple

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Vs Purple

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Vs Purple

Construction Helix Vs Purple

All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Vs Purple

Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.

Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.

Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you can always check out the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Vs Purple

According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Vs Purple

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.

Final Thoughts Helix Vs Purple

If you are shopping for a mattress and aren’t quite certain what feel that you require, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system may be the key to finding your best sleep with little hassle. Their amazing system, which relies on expert sentiment and AI, was designed to better their client’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Vs Purple

The features of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to provide choices whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, if you needed one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should offer good edge support and movement transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped construction.

I hope that I have given you some notion of what the typical consumer can expect from this bed, but it does provide an impressive assortment of customization with a choice for literally every specific need or desire. Your next best sleep could just be a short online quiz away.
