Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Twin Xl
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Twin Xl

Construction Helix Twin Xl
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Twin Xl
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Twin Xl
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Twin Xl
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
