Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Twin Xl Mattress
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Twin Xl Mattress

Construction Helix Twin Xl Mattress
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Twin Xl Mattress
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options sound right, you can always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Twin Xl Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Twin Xl Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
