Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad

Construction Helix Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
