Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Tribe
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Tribe

Construction Helix Tribe
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Tribe
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel right, you can always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Tribe
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Tribe
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
