Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Toronto
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Toronto

Construction Helix Toronto
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Toronto
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models feel right, you could always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Toronto
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Toronto
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
