Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Tile
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Tile

Construction Helix Tile
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Tile
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Tile
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Tile
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
