Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Stores
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Stores

Construction Helix Stores
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Stores
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Stores
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Stores
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
