Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Soft Topper
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Soft Topper

Construction Helix Soft Topper
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Soft Topper
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel quite right, you could always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Soft Topper
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Soft Topper
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
