Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Wiki
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Wiki

Construction Helix Sleep Wiki
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Wiki
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models feel quite right, you may always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Wiki
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Wiki
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
