Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Test
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Test

Construction Helix Sleep Test
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Test
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Test
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Test
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
