Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Store
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Store

Construction Helix Sleep Store
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Store
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Store
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Store
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
