Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Promo

Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Promo

Construction Helix Sleep Promo

All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Promo

Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.

The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.

Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.

Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Promo

According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Promo

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
