Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Press Release
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Press Release

Construction Helix Sleep Press Release
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Press Release
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Press Release
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
