Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review

Construction Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel right, you could always check out the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
If you are shopping for a mattress and aren’t quite certain what feel that you need, Helix’s quiz and Color Match system might be the secret to unlocking your very best sleep with little hassle. Their amazing system, which is based on expert sentiment and AI, was designed to better their customer’s sleep by offering a better match. Helix Sleep Nightfall Review
The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully manufactured to provide options whether you were looking for a mattress that stays cool all night, if you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer amazing edge support and movement transfer is at a minimum with their individually-wrapped construction.
Hopefully, I have provided you some notion of what the average customer can expect from this bed, but it truly does provide an impressive range of customization with a choice for literally every particular need or desire. Your next best sleep could just be a brief online quiz away.
