Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Matrace
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Matrace

Construction Helix Sleep Matrace
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Matrace
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Matrace
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Matrace
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
