Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Manta
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Manta

Construction Helix Sleep Manta
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Manta
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Manta
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Manta
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
