Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Glassdoor
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Glassdoor

Construction Helix Sleep Glassdoor
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Glassdoor
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always check out the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Glassdoor
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
