Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Company
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Company

Construction Helix Sleep Company
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Company
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options seem right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Company
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
