Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Reviews
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Reviews

Construction Helix Reviews
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Reviews
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models sound quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Reviews
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Reviews
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
