Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Review Youtube
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Review Youtube

Construction Helix Review Youtube
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Review Youtube
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models sound quite right, you may always check out the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Review Youtube
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Review Youtube
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
