Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Review Video
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Review Video

Construction Helix Review Video
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Review Video
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. People who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Review Video
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most individuals would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Review Video
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4” apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
