Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Reconditioning
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Reconditioning

Construction Helix Reconditioning
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Reconditioning
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Reconditioning
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Reconditioning
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Reconditioning
If you’re searching for a mattress and aren’t quite sure what feel that you need, Helix’s Color Match system and quiz might be the key to finding your very best sleep with no hassle. Their amazing system, which relies on expert opinions and AI, was designed to better their client’s sleep by providing a better match. Helix Reconditioning
The features of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were searching for a mattress that keeps cool all night, if you needed one to support your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The reinforced coil unit should provide great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped build.
Hopefully, I have given you some idea of what the average consumer can expect from the Helix, but it does offer an impressive assortment of customization with an option for literally every particular need or desire. Your next best sleep might just be a brief online quiz away.
