Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Psychology
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress options; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Psychology

Construction Helix Psychology
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Psychology
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound quite right, you may always have a look at the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Psychology
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Psychology
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.

The attributes of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide options whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
