Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Psychiatry
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Psychiatry

Construction Helix Psychiatry
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Psychiatry
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models sound right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Psychiatry
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Psychiatry
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
