Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Pintuck Comforter
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Pintuck Comforter

Construction Helix Pintuck Comforter
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Pintuck Comforter
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Pintuck Comforter
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
