Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Pillow
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Pillow

Construction Helix Pillow
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Pillow
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Pillow
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Pillow
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
