Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Pet Bed
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Pet Bed

Construction Helix Pet Bed
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Pet Bed
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you could always check out the four other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Pet Bed
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Pet Bed
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
