Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Packaging
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Packaging

Construction Helix Packaging
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Packaging
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options seem right, you can always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Packaging
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Packaging
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Packaging

The attributes of the Helix were thoughtfully constructed to deliver choices whether you were looking for a mattress that keeps cool all night, if you wanted one to support your curves with a thick comfort system, or both!
