Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better

Construction Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you may always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Or Nectar Which Is Better
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
