Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Nine
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Nine

Construction Helix Nine
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Nine
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to experience some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models sound quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Nine
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Nine
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
