Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Night Light
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Night Light

Construction Helix Night Light
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Night Light
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound right, you could always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Night Light
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Night Light
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
