Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter

Construction Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models sound right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure that you clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
