Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Moonlight Mattress
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Moonlight Mattress

Construction Helix Moonlight Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Moonlight Mattress
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options sound right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Moonlight Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Moonlight Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1” or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
