Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews

Construction Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options sound right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Memory Foam Mattress Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4” apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1” or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
